Penn Foster College · B2B Curriculum Update
Updated a skilled trades training program that hadn't been touched since 1933 — men pouring molten lead onto asbestos with no PPE, no goggles, no aprons. Modernized content, current safety standards, and illustrations to match. Having previously designed Ford light truck exhaust systems, I understood their culture: they take care of their people.

Calhoun ISD — CAD & Engineering Technology
8 Years · High School Program · 4-State Articulation
Built and ran a high school CAD program where students graduated with up to 17 college credits — no testing, no tuition — through articulation agreements spanning Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. Curriculum included SolidWorks, injection molding, 3D printing, blueprint reading, and the now-legendary Rubik's Cube project that ran Bloom's Taxonomy from parts list to timed competition.

37 Years at the Cutting Edge

From AutoCAD 2.6 on a DOS prompt in 1987 to parametric modeling, PLM administration, and eLearning conversion at the enterprise level. This isn't a training background built in a classroom — it was built on the shop floor, in the tooling room, and at the engineering workstation.

1987
AutoCAD 2.6 — First CAD Role
Raster editing for brass furniture hardware. DOS-based. No GUI. Just commands, coordinates, and commitment. Most people today have never seen AutoCAD without a mouse.
AutoCAD 2.6

VersaCAD 386 — System Implementation
Used VersaCAD 386 in production, then asked to implement Intergraph MicroStation company-wide. First system implementation role — not just a user, but the person who brought the tool in and made it work.

Ford Legacy CAD → SDRC I-DEAS Transition
Worked through Ford's CAD transition from their legacy system to SDRC I-DEAS — one of the most significant platform shifts in automotive engineering at the time. Designed Ford light truck exhaust systems. Watched the transition from the inside.

AutoCAD 2D + First SolidWorks Exposure
Returned as a tooling engineer — and got introduced to SolidWorks for the first time. The beginning of a long relationship with parametric 3D modeling.

Calhoun ISD — 8 Years
Full CAD Curriculum — AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, Revit, Maya, 3D Printing
Built and ran a high school CAD program covering the full spectrum — 2D drafting through parametric modeling, architectural design, animation, and additive manufacturing. Students graduated with up to 17 transferable college credits across 4 states. Certified by Autodesk as a Design Academy educator — recognized at the platform level, not just the classroom level.

CATIA V5 + Delmia — System Administration
Learned CATIA in a live automotive manufacturing plant — then became the system administrator. Also administered Delmia for digital manufacturing simulation. Not just a user: the person responsible for keeping the system running.

CATIA + Proprietary PDM — eLearning Conversion
Back to CATIA — this time building the eLearning system around it. Converted the entire ILT library to self-paced eLearning, built a real-time PDM issues dashboard tracking 1,000,000+ engineering records, and saved $500K+ annually. The full circle: engineer who became the trainer who built the system that measured whether the training worked.

"I didn't learn CAD to teach it. I taught it because I'd lived it — on the shop floor, in the tooling room, and at the engineering workstation — for two decades before I ever stood in front of a classroom."
— Jeffrey "Jet" Holt, M.Ed.

The Rubik's Cube Curriculum in Action

Recorded at Calhoun ISD in 2009 — this is the methodology live. Students received a complete Rubik's Cube kit, fully disassembled, with no drawings, no instructions, and no reference of any kind. What you see here is the starting point of a curriculum that produced full SolidWorks assemblies, bills of materials, technical animations, and up to 17 transferable college credits.

Introduction to SolidWorks — 3D Modeling

Recorded in Ecuador in 2023. Authentic, unscripted instruction covering the foundational concepts of parametric 3D modeling — navigating the interface, creating and constraining sketches, applying features, and building a solid model from the ground up. This is what real teaching looks like.

Spanish Tutoring Flyer — Visual Redesign

A friend shared a flyer and asked about pricing. I noticed the real problem wasn't the price — it was the design. Too many colors, competing fonts, no visual hierarchy. I offered a critique and two complete redesigns in the same conversation: one for adults, one for school-age kids. This is what a gap looks like when you can see it.
